Here’s a classic British dish that we pieced together from the leftovers of our 4th of July BBQ. The basic recipe is easy: make toast, put baked beans on top and eat. Here’s what we did:
Heat up beans on stove top that were cooked in the crock pot the day before. We added a sliced up hotdog and some chopped up peppers and onions from leftover shish kebabs. That’s pretty much it. For the toast part, we had a nice piece of French bread that we cut open, brushed with olive oil and toasted in the oven. Put toast on the plate and pour on the beans. We served it with a simple ranch salad on the side.
Tip: Unless you make your own baked beans, stick to either Heinz (traditional British way) or Bush’s for best flavor.
